Location

The Wyry Commune is a rural commune located in the Southern part of the Silesian voivodeship, to the South-West from Katowice – the capital of the voivodeship. The Wyry Commune lies within the administration of the Mikołowski county.

The Wyry Commune borders:

  • from the North with Mikołów,
  • from the South with Kobiór,
  • from the West with Orzesze and Łaziska Górne,
  • from the East with Tychy.

Gmina Wyry

From an administrative point of view, the area of the commune includes two towns separated with a strip of forests: Wyry in the northern part and Gostyń in the southern part. In terms of geography, it is a fragment of Oświęcimska Valley spreading latitudinally along the basin of the Vistula River and Gostyń. In the area of the commune there are: 2 public kindergartens, 2 primary schools, 2 middle schools, 1 library, 2 Volunteer Fire Brigades, 3 parishes and 2 sport and recreation facilities.

Gmina Wyry

The cultural activity is concentrated in the Community Centre. Sport life is concentrated in the “Fortune” sport club where the football section is particularly active. About 500 business entities are registered in the area of the commune – mostly small manufacturing, transport, catering and trading companies. Close proximity of large cities creates opportunities for investments. The commune has convenient road connections with major cities of the Upper Silesia region, mainly Mikołów, Tychy and Katowice.
